Enugu Police Arrest Teen and Accomplice for Killing 5 Year Old Cousin

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested an 18 year old, Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom, for allegedly kidnapping and killing his five year old second cousin, also named Obodoagu Wisdom.

Police also arrested his accomplice, Sunday Michael, a 24 year old security guard from Adamawa State. The arrests were made on August 11 and 12, 2025, by the Command’s Anti Kidnapping Tactical Squad after intelligence reports linked them to a ransom demand.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the child was declared missing on July 26, 2025. Investigations revealed that the suspect used his accomplice to demand a ₦1 million ransom from the victim’s father to hide his identity.

When the ransom was not paid, the suspect reportedly killed the child and buried him in a bush near their home in Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, Udi LGA. The police later recovered the body after the suspect confessed and led officers to the site. Medical personnel confirmed the child’s death.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, expressed condolences to the grieving family and assured that the suspects will be charged in court once investigations are complete. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to tackling serious crimes and ensuring justice.
