NAWOJ Enugu Calls for Stronger Action Against Gender Discrimination

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Enugu State Chapter, has called on Nigerians to work together to end all forms of gender discrimination in the country.

The Chairperson of NAWOJ in Enugu State, Ngozi Ngene, made the call on Sunday while speaking on the celebration of International Women’s Day, which is marked every year on March 8.

Ngene urged governments at all levels, private organizations, civil society groups, and community leaders to increase their efforts in creating more opportunities for women to succeed in leadership, education, business, and governance.

She said International Women’s Day is a time to recognize the achievements, strength, and important contributions women make in society.

According to her, as part of activities to mark this year’s celebration, the NAWOJ Enugu State Chapter has adopted “Give to Gain” as its theme for the year.

Ngene added that empowering women and removing barriers that limit their growth will help build a better and more inclusive Nigeria.
