The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three male suspects and recovered a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits during coordinated operations aimed at tackling crime across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the operations, carried out on March 15, 2026, were part of the command’s proactive policing strategy under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
According to the report, operatives from the Department of Operations, while on surveillance patrol along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway at about 9:00 a.m., intercepted a tricycle without a registration number. A search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of a locally fabricated double-barreled pistol. Two occupants of the tricycle, identified as Ugochukwu Samuel (26) and Kevin Kosichukwu (26), were immediately arrested, while the tricycle was impounded.
In a related operation later that same day, at about 10:30 a.m., police operatives attached to the Udenu Area Command intercepted a motorcycle along Nsukka Road in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area. One of the riders reportedly fled into a nearby bush upon sighting the police.
The remaining rider, identified as Chinedu Harrison (17), was arrested, and six rounds of 9mm live ammunition were recovered from him. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to being a member of the Arrow Barger cult group and provided useful information to investigators.
Police authorities stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and other accomplices linked to the incidents. They added that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police commended the operatives for their diligence and urged officers to maintain the momentum in proactive policing. He also called on residents to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with credible information, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ridding Enugu State of criminal elements.
