The Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation has named Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as the Best South-East Governor of the Year 2025.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the foundation’s chief executive officer, Sam Nwanze, who revealed that the decision followed a thorough evaluation by a seven-member selection committee.
According to the statement, the selection committee was constituted by the Foundation’s Board of Directors and chaired by Emmanuel Olisa Chukwuma.
The committee assessed governors across the South-East region based on performance in key sectors, including:
- Education
- Healthcare
- Transportation (land and air)
- Road infrastructure (urban and rural)
- Security
After the review, Governor Mbah was adjudged the best-performing governor in the region.
The Foundation commended Governor Mbah’s development strides, particularly his strong focus on education under his “Tomorrow is Here” agenda.
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Mike Ubani, the committee highlighted the administration’s increased budget allocation to education.
A major highlight of the initiative is the construction of Smart Green Schools across all 260 electoral wards in Enugu State.
The committee described the effort as a transformative step toward improving the quality of education and preparing the next generation for future challenges.
In his response, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah expressed gratitude to the foundation for the recognition.
“This honour goes beyond me as an individual. It belongs to my entire team working tirelessly to reposition our state for sustainable growth and development,” he stated.
He described the award as both a privilege and a responsibility to continue delivering impactful governance.
The award presentation is scheduled to take place on April 16 at the International Conference Centre, starting at 12 noon.
The event will also feature the maiden edition of the “Great Igbo Achievers With Integrity and Excellence Awards,” where 21 distinguished Igbo personalities will be honoured.
Among those to be recognised at the event are the following:
- Samuel Asadu
- Ume Okafor
- Chief Medical Director ESUTH Nsukka
The event will also include the public presentation of the second edition of the Igbo Book of Records and the Igbo Digest Newspaper.
The Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Igbo culture, heritage, and excellence.
