Three Suspected Kidnappers Arrested During NSCDC Rescue Operation in Enugu

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in a kidnapping incident and successfully rescued a victim in Enugu State.

The operation took place in the Onuogba Nike Forest, located in Enugu East Local Government Area.

Speaking on the development, the Enugu State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Elijah Willie, disclosed that the rescue mission lasted approximately eight hours before the victim was safely recovered.

According to him, the victim, Mr. Chukwu Daniel, a butcher, was allegedly deceived into visiting the forest on May 31 by a cattle seller identified as Mr. Isuhu, popularly known as “Shua Shua,” who had invited him to purchase livestock.

Willie explained that after both parties agreed on a price, Daniel attempted to leave with the cattle. However, the seller reportedly called him back, claiming he had changed his mind about the sale.

As the cattle moved back into the forest, Daniel was allegedly ambushed and abducted by armed men hiding in the area.

The victim later reported that three attackers, armed with an AK-47 rifle, two pistols, and machetes, emerged from the forest, assaulted him, and took him captive. He sustained several machete injuries during the ordeal.

The kidnappers subsequently contacted his wife and demanded a ransom for his release.

Upon receiving the information, Daniel’s wife alerted the NSCDC, prompting an immediate response from the agency. Through a coordinated operation, officers tracked the suspects, rescued the victim, and detained three individuals linked to the crime.

The commandant added that investigations are ongoing, while the arrested suspects are providing useful information that could assist security operatives in apprehending other members of the gang who remain at large.
