APC South-East Women Plan Mega Rally in Enugu to Boost Tinubu, Party Ahead of 2027

By Isaac Mission

Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East have announced plans to stage a mega rally in Enugu on August 18 as part of efforts to rally support for President Bola Tinubu and strengthen the party’s base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in Abuja by the APC South-East Women Leader, Oby Ajir, during a press conference organised by the National Coordinating Committee of the South-East Women Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme.

Ajir said the event would attract women from the five South-East states—Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo—with the objective of uniting party supporters and expanding grassroots mobilisation across the region.

Beyond political engagement, she explained that the programme would feature an empowerment initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods of women. According to her, traders, farmers and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises will benefit from grants, start-up support and the distribution of equipment for skills acquisition.

She also noted that participants would receive leadership training designed to encourage more women to seek elective offices and actively participate in party administration.

Former Senator Uche Ekwunife said the rally would provide an opportunity for APC supporters in the South-East to publicly demonstrate their support for President Tinubu while highlighting what she described as the achievements of his administration in the region.

Also speaking, Ginika Florence-Tor, Principal Liaison Officer to the APC Deputy National Chairman (South-East), expressed confidence that women from all five South-East states would attend the programme in large numbers.

Princess Akubundu, National Organising Secretary of the Tinubu Torch Bearers Group, said the gathering is expected to strengthen grassroots support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the organisers, the event will combine political mobilisation with economic empowerment, providing women across different sectors with opportunities for support, training and participation in the party’s activities.
