Enugu Govt Achieves 80% Reduction in Violent Crime  Gov. Mbah

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State says his administration has reduced violent crime in the state by 80% through massive investments in security.

Speaking on Monday at the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual Conference in Enugu, where he presented his scorecard titled “Leadership and Transformation”, Mbah said his government adopted a tech driven and intelligence led security system anchored in the state’s Command and Control Centre.

According to him, the system uses 24 hour AI surveillance, integrated response units, and community partnerships, which have helped deliver safer neighborhoods.

“This stability is the foundation for investment, jobs, and growth in society,” the governor said.

Mbah explained that his vision for Enugu includes growing the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, reducing poverty to zero, and making Enugu the top destination in Nigeria for business, tourism, and living.

To achieve this, he noted that the government has initiated over 2,000 projects across health, roads, transport, agriculture, and education.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s consistent allocation of 33% of the annual budget to education, describing human capital as the state’s greatest asset.

He announced that by next month, the government would launch 260 Smart Green Schools (one in each ward), which will be tech enabled, future focused institutions designed to prepare children for the digital age and the global job market.

Prominent lawyers at the NBA conference praised the governor’s leadership. Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome described Mbah’s achievements as “obvious transformations,” while former senator Dino Melaye commended him for delivering major projects within just two years and for prioritizing competence in the appointment of his team.

Melaye said Mbah’s leadership offers hope that Nigeria can succeed again.
