Obi–Kwankwaso Movement Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Destabilise NDC in Enugu

By Isaac Mission

The Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Enugu State has raised concerns over what it described as an alleged attempt to cause division and weaken the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement, in a statement signed by its Chief Press Secretary, Ani Ifeanyi Moses, alleged that some individuals were working to create what it called a “non-existent faction” within the party.

According to the group, the alleged scheme involves impersonating recognised party officials, making unauthorised claims to leadership positions and circulating information capable of misleading party members.

The OK Movement said such activities could create unnecessary tension within the NDC at a time when the party should be consolidating its structure and preparing for the forthcoming elections.

It therefore advised party members and supporters to disregard directives or announcements that do not come through recognised party authorities and official communication channels.

The movement also expressed concern about the potential impact of the alleged internal crisis on Enugu’s political landscape, noting the state’s importance to the political movement associated with Peter Obi.

It urged members to remain calm and allow established party structures, internal mechanisms and lawful processes to resolve any disagreements rather than resorting to actions capable of deepening divisions.

The group further appealed to political stakeholders to respect the principles of constitutional democracy and the rule of law, warning against the use of young Nigerians as instruments in political disputes.

According to the movement, personal political interests should not be allowed to undermine efforts to build what it described as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.

The OK Movement called on NDC members and Obi–Kwankwaso supporters in Enugu to remain united, vigilant and cautious when receiving political information.

It encouraged members to verify claims before acting on announcements or directives attributed to party officials, particularly those circulated through unofficial channels.

The movement reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, good governance and what it described as a people-centred government under the broader “New Nigeria” project.
