Massive Crowd Backs Mbah’s Re-election as G-17 Concludes Enugu Grassroots Tour

By Isaac Mission

Thousands of party supporters, community leaders and political stakeholders gathered in Nkanu East Local Government Area as the G-17 for Peter Mbah, a grassroots mobilisation group, concluded its tour of the 17 local government areas of Enugu State with a grand finale.

The event also marked the inauguration of the group's executives across the state, including 17 local government executives, 260 ward executives and polling unit canvassers, ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council described G-17 as one of the state's leading grassroots political organisations, praising its structure, discipline and mobilisation strategy.

He said all 17 local government chairmen in Enugu had embraced the group's mobilisation model and pledged continued collaboration to secure the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.

The council chairman also commended Governor Mbah's performance, citing improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation and other sectors. He maintained that the governor's achievements had earned him widespread support in Nkanu East.

According to him, the governor's developmental approach inspired several projects undertaken by the local government, including the construction of a 200,000-capacity civic hall, over 13 kilometres of roads, the completion of the Ugbawka-Nara Bridge and other infrastructure projects across the area's 14 political wards.

A member representing Nkanu East State Constituency also praised Governor Mbah's leadership, describing him as one of the country's outstanding-performing governors. He commended the leadership of G-17 for building what he described as a genuine grassroots political movement.

The APC chairmanship candidate for Nkanu East Local Government equally applauded the organisation, promising to work closely with the group to strengthen the party's support base if elected.

Also addressing the gathering, the President of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement (THM) praised the group's grassroots mobilisation efforts, expressing confidence that the structure would contribute significantly to the party's performance in the 2027 elections.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State also commended G-17 for its organisational efforts, stating that the movement had strengthened the party's grassroots presence across the state.

In his keynote address, the convener of G-17 urged the newly inaugurated executives to begin immediate mobilisation at the polling unit, ward and community levels by engaging residents on the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu.

He reminded them that their inauguration marked the beginning of active political engagement rather than a ceremonial exercise, stressing that electoral success would depend on sustained grassroots mobilisation.

The event concluded with the inauguration of executives and polling unit canvassers for Nkanu East, who pledged to commence intensive mobilisation across the local government in preparation for the 2027 general election.
