Social media commentator VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, has reacted to reports that more than 13,000 people unfollowed him on Instagram following his involvement in the ongoing dispute surrounding music duo P-Square.

The controversy involving brothers Peter and Paul Okoye and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, has attracted significant attention online, with VDM previously weighing in on the issues surrounding the family.

According to a video shared on his Instagram page, VDM was informed by a friend that a report had surfaced about the decline in his follower count.

Rather than expressing concern over the development, the social media personality appeared unfazed and joked that he had expected the number of people who would unfollow him to be significantly higher.

He suggested that he would not be bothered even if a much larger number of followers decided to leave his page, arguing that his influence was not dependent solely on his Instagram audience.

VDM also recalled previous occasions when online campaigns were launched against him, saying such attempts had ultimately increased his visibility and influence.

He maintained that losing followers would not stop him from expressing his opinions or addressing issues he considers important.

VDM challenges those who unfollowed him

In his reaction, VDM questioned the practical value of the followers who had chosen to leave his page.

He argued that he provides information, creates awareness and uses his platform to draw attention to issues affecting people, insisting that his relevance goes beyond the number displayed on his Instagram account.

The activist also took a swipe at some content creators whom he accused of relying heavily on trending controversies for attention.

According to him, his influence has continued to grow even after previous attempts by critics to turn his audience against him.

VDM maintains his position on P-Square controversy

The latest development comes shortly after VDM announced that he was stepping away from the highly publicised P-Square family dispute.

He had earlier offered his assessment of the disagreement involving Peter, Paul and Jude Okoye, assigning different levels of responsibility to those involved.

VDM subsequently claimed that Peter Okoye had attempted to involve him in the dispute and said he no longer wanted to participate in the controversy.

He also rejected suggestions that Peter had confided sensitive information in him, saying he felt he had been unfairly drawn into the family matter.

Despite announcing his withdrawal, VDM's previous comments have continued to generate reactions online, with the reported loss of followers becoming another talking point among social media users.

For now, VDM appears to have dismissed the development, maintaining that a reduction in his Instagram following will not determine his influence or willingness to speak on controversial issues.
