Mountain Top Chorale of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has secured a major international victory after emerging champion in the spiritual category at the 2026 World Choir Games in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The achievement was celebrated by MFM General Overseer, Daniel Olukoya, who described the choir’s performance as a remarkable accomplishment for Nigeria and the ministry.
According to information from the World Choir Games organisers, Mountain Top Chorale won Category C14 – Spiritual in the Champions Competition. The choir was conducted by Oluwasegun Okedunmola.
The organisers announced the first champions of the 2026 competition during an awards ceremony in Helsingborg, where participating choirs gathered to receive recognition for their performances.
The World Choir Games, regarded as one of the largest international choral competitions, is taking place in Helsingborg from August 6 to 16, 2026.
The event has attracted thousands of singers from more than 40 countries, with over 160 choirs participating in concerts and competitive categories. It is the first time Sweden is hosting the global choral festival.
Reacting to the victory, Olukoya celebrated Mountain Top Chorale in a Facebook post, describing the result as a significant moment for the choir.
He disclosed that the group won the gold medal in the Spiritual Category with 87.38 points, while also becoming champions of the World Choir Games Champions Competition.
Olukoya said the feat went beyond winning a musical competition, noting that it reflected the discipline, commitment, teamwork and excellence demonstrated by the choristers.
He congratulated the members of Mountain Top Chorale, its conductor and leadership, as well as everyone who contributed to the choir’s preparation and success.
The MFM leader also expressed pride in the choir’s representation of Nigeria on the international stage, giving glory to God for the achievement.
Mountain Top Chorale’s triumph adds another notable achievement to Nigeria’s growing presence in international choral and gospel music competitions.
The World Choir Games brings together choirs from different countries to compete in various musical categories while promoting cultural exchange and international fellowship through choral music.
