MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has introduced a new customer-focused service known as the Quick Response Team (QRT) to ensure faster repair of electrical faults across Enugu State.
Speaking during the official launch in Enugu on Tuesday, the managing director, Ernest Mupwaya, said the initiative is designed to improve speed, responsiveness, and accountability in service delivery.
According to him, the launch of the QRT shows that the company is taking concrete steps to deliver on its promises to customers.
“The QRT has been designed to significantly improve our operations by ensuring that faults are handled quickly, efficiently, and safely,” he said.
Mupwaya explained that engineers and field staff have undergone special training not only in rapid fault resolution but also in customer service and safety.
“We understand that fixing faults is not just technical work; it is a service to households, businesses, and entire communities,” he added.
To support the initiative, the company has deployed fully equipped teams that will operate round the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week across six operational districts. These include two teams each in Abakpa and Ogui, and one team each in Nsukka and Awkunanaw.
In total, 27 teams have been strategically positioned to reduce response time, improve coordination, and ensure quick intervention whenever faults occur.
Also speaking, Board Member Steve Dike said the board is fully committed to supporting the management in driving the transformation.
“This is a clear signal that MainPower is serious about improving service delivery. We will continue to ensure that this initiative is effective, measurable, and sustainable,” he said.
In his remarks, Chuka Akunne of the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) commended MainPower for the initiative, describing it as a major step toward prioritizing customer service.
He assured that the commission would continue to support efforts aimed at improving electricity supply and service delivery in the state.
Residents are encouraged to report faults through the QRT 24/7 helpline (02084700100) or via WhatsApp (07074609958) for immediate response.
