The Government of Enugu State Demolishes Kidnappers’ dens and Promises more to Come
On Wednesday, the Enugu State Government dismantled buildings that kidnappers had been using to hold their victims nearby the state capital of Enugu.
Among the properties were a big farm in Enugu East LGA that housed a poultry, piggery, and plantain plantation at Ogbeke Nike, as well as an incomplete-story building with an underground tunnel at Nkwubor Layout in Emene Nike where a large stockpile of rifles and ammunition were seized.
Seven pump action riffles, two short guns, and eight AK47 riffles were among the seventeen firearms found in Nkwubor Nike. Two AK47 rifles were found at the Ogbeke Nike farm. There were also demolished little Indian hemp plantations, charms, and shrines.
After conducting a covert investigation into the kidnappers’ actions for several months, security personnel raided the two hideouts, making shocking findings and freeing some of the captives after engaging in gunplay with the perpetrators.
Recall that the Enugu State Government declared its readiness to demolish properties being used for kidnapping purposes in accordance with Section 315 of the Criminal Code (Second Amendment) Law Cap. 30, Laws of Enugu State, in line with the Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah Administration’s determination to eradicate crime and criminality in the state.
