Chelsea will look to build on their midweek attacking display when they welcome unbeaten Hull City to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues produced a thrilling 6-3 victory over Leeds United in the EFL Cup, but their next challenge could be considerably different. Hull have made an impressive return to the Premier League, collecting seven points from their opening three matches without conceding a goal.
That defensive record will face one of its biggest tests yet against a Chelsea side that has already shown considerable attacking firepower.
Chelsea currently have eight goals from their first three league games but have also conceded seven. Their ability to create chances has been encouraging, although defensive consistency remains a concern.
A victory would strengthen Chelsea's position near the top of the table and provide a response to their recent defeat against Arsenal. Hull, meanwhile, have the opportunity to turn their excellent opening run into an even bigger statement with a result at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea team news
Chelsea will be without Moises Caicedo, Valentin Barco, Marco Palestra and Emmanuel Emegha for the encounter.
Jordan Henderson is also doubtful and is unlikely to recover in time, although there is optimism that he could return next week. Caicedo's absence is particularly significant given the role he normally plays in Chelsea's midfield.
Xabi Alonso is expected to retain his 3-4-2-1 formation.
Emiliano Martinez should continue in goal, with Maxence Lacroix expected to operate at the heart of the defence alongside Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong.
Jorrel Hato is likely to occupy the left wing-back position, while Pedro Neto should feature on the opposite flank following his new contract with the club.
Reece James and Romeo Lavia are expected to form the central midfield partnership.
Further forward, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers should operate behind Joao Pedro. Palmer has already contributed two goals, an assist and six key passes in the league, while Rogers has also scored twice and created 10 key passes.
Joao Pedro is expected to lead the attack after making a strong start to the campaign with two goals and two assists.
Probable Chelsea XI (3-4-2-1): Martinez; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Lavia, James, Hato; Palmer, Rogers; Joao Pedro.
Hull City team news
Hull will also have to cope with a sizeable injury list.
Abdulkadir Omur, Eliot Matazo, Joe Gelhardt, Darko Gyabi, Charlie Hughes, Jens Hjerto-Dahl and Hidemasa Morita are all expected to miss the trip to London.
Sergej Jakirovic is likely to maintain the defensive setup that has helped Hull remain unbeaten without conceding.
Konstantinos Tzolakis should start in goal, protected by Ryan Giles, Nobel Mendy, John Egan, Semi Ajayi and Lewie Coyle.
Egan has featured in every league match so far and has played the most minutes for the club. Mendy and Ajayi have also demonstrated an attacking threat, particularly from set-piece situations.
Lucas Gourna-Douath and Regan Slater are expected to operate centrally, with Elliot Stroud and Mohamed Belloumi providing width.
Oli McBurnie should lead the line on his own, with the striker likely to play an important role in helping Hull escape Chelsea's pressure and turning long passes into attacking opportunities.
Probable Hull XI (5-4-1): Tzolakis; Coyle, Ajayi, Egan, Mendy, Giles; Belloumi, Slater, Gourna-Douath, Stroud; McBurnie.
Tactical battle
Chelsea's three-man defence gives Alonso the freedom to push his wing-backs forward while keeping enough defensive cover behind the ball.
Palmer and Rogers will operate in advanced positions around Joao Pedro, looking to exploit spaces between Hull's midfield and backline.
Hull are expected to counter with a compact 5-4-1 shape. Their priority will be to protect the central areas, frustrate Chelsea's attacking midfielders and then use McBurnie as the first outlet when possession is recovered.
The visitors have shown a willingness to go direct. Hull average around 60 long balls per match, compared with approximately 53 for Chelsea and a league average of 49.
That approach could prove important at Stamford Bridge. If McBurnie can win aerial contests against Chelsea's defenders, Hull may be able to turn clearances into counter-attacking opportunities.
Chelsea, however, will attempt to keep the pressure on by moving the ball from side to side and forcing Hull's five-man defence to leave gaps.
Key battle: Lacroix vs McBurnie
One of the most important individual contests could take place between Maxence Lacroix and Oli McBurnie.
McBurnie provides Hull with a physical target for their direct approach, while Lacroix will be responsible for preventing the striker from controlling those deliveries and bringing teammates into play.
If Chelsea consistently win the first aerial duel, Hull could find themselves trapped in their own half.
But if McBurnie can hold up the ball and bring runners into the game, the visitors could put pressure on a Chelsea defence that has already shown vulnerability this season.
Another crucial matchup will take place on the flanks, where Pedro Neto is expected to face Ryan Giles.
Neto's pace and attacking movement could force Giles deeper, potentially limiting Hull's ability to launch attacks down that side. Conversely, Giles' ability to carry the ball forward could make Chelsea's wing-back think twice about committing too far forward.
Chelsea's attacking advantage
Chelsea appear to possess the greater attacking threat going into the fixture.
The Blues have recorded an expected-goals figure of around 1.90 per match from their opening three league games, compared with Hull's 0.73.
Their expected-goals balance is also stronger, with Chelsea at approximately +2.251 and Hull at +0.751.
Those figures suggest that Alonso's side have been creating more dangerous opportunities, with Palmer, Rogers and Joao Pedro offering several different ways to attack.
Hull's strongest argument is their defensive organisation. Three consecutive clean sheets demonstrate that Jakirovic's team can remain disciplined under pressure.
Prediction
Chelsea should have enough quality to edge a closely contested match, but Hull's unbeaten start makes this far from a straightforward home fixture.
The visitors are unlikely to abandon their defensive structure, and Chelsea may have to be patient before finding a breakthrough.
At the same time, the Blues' attacking options should eventually create enough opportunities to make the difference.
Prediction: Chelsea win
Possible scorelines: 1-0, 2-1 or 1-1
A draw cannot be ruled out if Hull successfully shut down the spaces around Palmer and Rogers, but Chelsea's superior attacking numbers and home advantage make them the slight favourites.
The key for Alonso will be finding the right balance between maintaining defensive security and committing enough players forward to break down Hull's disciplined five-man defence.
