New AIG Dantawaye Pledges Stronger Security Partnership in Anambra, Enugu

The newly appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, AIG Miller Dantawaye, has assured residents of Anambra and Enugu states of improved security and sustained peace under his leadership.

Speaking shortly after taking over as the 10th AIG of the zone, Dantawaye said he would build on the achievements recorded by previous leadership while strengthening efforts to tackle crime across the two states.

He assumed office following the retirement of AIG Godwin Eze, who exited the Nigeria Police Force after attaining the mandatory retirement age.

The new zonal police chief called on officers and personnel within the command to remain disciplined, professional, and dedicated to their responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven policing, respect for human rights, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders in maintaining law and order.

Dantawaye expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the zone. He also reassured members of the public that the command would continue to prioritize community policing and strengthen partnerships with residents to improve security outcomes.

According to the AIG, the command remains committed to protecting lives and property while supporting the strategic vision of the Inspector-General aimed at enhancing public safety nationwide.

Born in October 1971, Dantawaye hails from Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 1, 2000. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies.

Throughout his policing career, he has occupied several key operational, investigative, and administrative positions. These include Divisional Crime Officer, Camp Commandant, Divisional Police Officer, Escort Commander to both the Vice-President and President, as well as Squadron Commander of the 24 Police Mobile Force.

He also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in the Federal Capital Territory Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, Area Commander in Adamawa and Lagos states, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo states.

Before his latest appointment, Dantawaye served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Information Technology, Commissioner of Police in Kogi State and the FCT Command, and most recently as AIG in charge of Federal Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
