By Peace Orjiani

An accident involving a commercial bus, a Sienna vehicle and one of the state-owned buses has reportedly occurred along the Opi–Enugu Road in Enugu State.

The incident was reported on Saturday morning, August 8, 2026, raising concerns among motorists and residents travelling along the busy route.

According to preliminary information circulating about the crash, the commercial bus was allegedly attempting to overtake a Sienna when the collision occurred. The impact reportedly involved the third vehicle, identified as one of the state-owned buses.

At the time of this report, there had been no confirmed report of any death resulting from the accident.

However, several passengers travelling in the vehicles involved were reportedly injured.

The exact number of people injured and the severity of their injuries could not immediately be independently verified.

A social media report concerning the incident also appealed to people whose relatives or friends may have travelled along the Opi–Enugu route to check on their loved ones and confirm their safety.

What Happened?

Preliminary reports indicate that the commercial bus was allegedly trying to overtake the Sienna when the vehicles collided.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain sketchy, and it is not yet clear whether other factors, such as speed, road conditions, mechanical problems or driver error, contributed to the accident.

The identities of the drivers and passengers involved have also not been released.

Several Passengers Reportedly Injured

Although no death has been confirmed, passengers in the vehicles reportedly sustained injuries following the collision.

The extent of the injuries remains unclear, and there was no immediate official statement available from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirming the number of casualties.

Further details are expected as emergency responders and relevant authorities assess the situation.
