Security Update in Enugu: Cultists Caught, Man Rescued, and Shocking Discovery in a Church

In the past few days, Enugu State has seen some major security events that shocked many residents. From the arrest of suspected cultists to a disturbing discovery in a church, the Enugu State Police have been very active in trying to protect the people and make the state safe.

Below are the full details of the three major incidents that happened in June 2025:

On June 10, 2025, the Enugu State Police Anti Cultism Unit carried out a special operation in Enugu city. During the operation, they arrested some young men believed to be members of a cult group. These cult groups are often involved in violence, fighting, and other criminal activities in the state.

What made the situation more serious was the discovery of a locally made double barrel pistol. The weapon was found with the suspects and was possibly being prepared for use in a crime.

The police did not take this lightly. They quickly took the suspects to the station for further questioning. They are now investigating the case to know how the suspects got the weapon, who else is involved, and what their plans were. This action shows that the police are committed to reducing cultism and violence in Enugu.

Just two days earlier, on June 8, 2025, there was another serious case. A man named Anyanwu Izuchukwu Gabriel was almost killed by an angry mob in one part of Enugu.

Eyewitnesses said that the crowd believed he had done something wrong, possibly  trying to commit a robbery or other criminal act. The mob quickly gathered and began to beat him, trying to take justice into their own hands.

Luckily, the police arrived at the location  on time and stopped the mob before they could kill him. They arrested Anyanwu and, during a search, found a pistol in his custody. The weapon gave police more reason to believe he might have been planning to commit a crime.

This incident also raises concerns about mob justice, which is becoming more common in some areas. The police advised residents not to take laws into their own hands but to report any crime to the authorities instead.

One of the most disturbing events happened on June 11, 2025, when security officers stormed  a church in the Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The church, called Synagogue Church, was believed to be a normal place of worship. However, when the police entered the building, they found something terrifying  a human skull and other ritual items, including a spiritual staff.

The pastor of the church, Prophet Chinedu Ezedike, was arrested immediately and taken in for questioning. Residents of the community were shocked. Many of them had attended that church before and never suspected anything wrong.

Police say they are now investigating whether the church was involved in ritual killings or any other illegal spiritual practices. The discovery has caused panic among community members and raised questions about fake religious leaders who may be hiding behind churches to commit crimes.

These three events happening so close to each other show that there are still serious security challenges in some parts of Enugu State. But they also show that the police are active and responding quickly to threats.
