Gov Mbah Launches New Transport Management System in Enugu with Eco Friendly Buses and Modern Terminals

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has introduced a new Enugu State Transport Management System, marking another major step in his administration’s efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve mobility across the state.

The project includes the commissioning of five ultra-modern bus terminals located at Holy Ghost, Nsukka, Abakpa, and Garriki, alongside the rollout of 100 eco-friendly CNG powered city buses, which are part of an initial batch of 200 units planned for deployment.

In support of this initiative, the ANAMMCO Vehicle Company successfully remanufactured 50 old city buses from the defunct Coal City Shuttle Service. These buses, originally received in poor condition, were restored to modern standards through a collaboration with China’s Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Co. Ltd.

ANAMMCO also donated two brand new pickup trucks to the Ministry of Transport to help with terminal inspections and monitoring of bus operations. The company said the restoration process reduced costs, created jobs, and provided technical training opportunities for Enugu youths in the automotive sector.

Uche Okeke, ANAMMCO’s Executive Director of Corporate Services, emphasized that the project strengthens local industries, promotes economic activity, and aligns with Governor Mbah’s broader vision of growing Enugu’s economy to $30 billion through industrialization, infrastructure, job creation, and human capital development.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor, Mrs. Iphie Ugonabo commended ANAMMCO’s partnership and assured the company of continued government support. She noted that the inclusion of local firms like ANAMMCO reflects Governor Mbah’s strategy of engaging indigenous industries to deliver projects quickly and effectively.

With this initiative, Enugu State is set to enjoy a modern, efficient, and sustainable public transport system, boosting local economic growth while offering residents a safer and more reliable travel experience.
