Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has officially unveiled a new Christian ministry known as New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT), in Abuja.
The development was announced on Sunday, August 9, 2026, and has since generated significant reactions online.
According to reports by Punch, Vanguard, Premium Times, TVC News and The Nation, Dikeh introduced New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle as an interdenominational Christian fellowship and spiritual movement focused on prayer, revival and the transformation of believers.
What Tonto Dikeh said about the ministry
In announcing the ministry, Dikeh described New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle as an “interdenominational altar, spiritual home, and global movement of consecrated believers.” TVC News reported that the ministry is based in Abuja.
A statement outlining the vision of NWPT said the ministry seeks to create a place for people who are unwilling to settle for what it described as lukewarm Christianity and who desire revival, spiritual growth and transformation.
The ministry’s stated vision also includes a global awakening of committed Christians and the advancement of Christian faith.
Did Tonto Dikeh really open a church?
Yes, the core claim is true.
Our check of current reports from several Nigerian media organisations confirms that Tonto Dikeh has unveiled New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle in Abuja. Premium Times, Punch, Vanguard, TVC News and The Nation have all reported the development.
However, there are some details in the viral message that we could not independently verify.
The claim that Dikeh established the ministry specifically “after one year of giving her life to Christ”is circulating online, but the reputable reports reviewed do not independently establish that exact timeline.
Similarly, the viral claim that she is already “performing miracles and giving prophecies” should be treated cautiously. While the ministry carries the word “Prophetic” in its name and reports describe Dikeh’s new role in Christian ministry, we did not find reliable independent evidence confirming specific miracles performed by her.
In February 2026, Premium Times reported that Dikeh had graduated from a discipleship class at Streams of Joy International, where she had publicly discussed her Christian journey.
Tonto Dikeh’s new chapter
The development represents another major chapter in Dikeh’s increasingly public Christian journey.
Her transition into Christian ministry has attracted considerable attention because of her long career in Nollywood and her public profile.
The launch has also triggered debate on social media, with some Nigerians welcoming her new direction while others are questioning the speed of her transition into ministry.
The viral post accompanying the announcement also cites 1 Timothy 3:6, which warns against appointing a recent convert to a position of leadership because of the risk of pride and spiritual downfall.
However, whether that biblical warning applies to Dikeh personally is a matter of religious interpretation, rather than an established fact about her ministry.
