Davido Takes Fresh Swipe at Edo Governor Okpebholo Over APC Meeting Post

By Isaac Mission

Afrobeats star Davido has reignited his public exchange with Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, after reacting to a social media post shared by the governor. The singer took issue with a post Okpebholo published on Monday, August 10, in which the governor spoke about meeting with All Progressives Congress leaders and members from the 18 local government areas of Edo State. In the post, Okpebholo said the meeting was an opportunity to appreciate party members for their support and reaffirm his administration’s commitment to grassroots governance. Davido, however, responded with a brief but sarcastic remark, questioning whether the governor personally wrote the message. “There's no way in heaven he typed this.” The singer’s comment quickly attracted attention on social media, with fans and other users offering different interpretations of his reaction. Davido and Okpebholo’s public disagreement Davido’s latest comment comes amid an ongoing public disagreement between the musician and the Edo governor. The tension reportedly followed comments attributed to Okpebholo concerning Davido’s uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, during a political event. Since then, Davido has occasionally responded to developments involving the Edo governor, making his latest reaction another talking point among fans and political observers. While some social media users applauded the singer for speaking out, others advised him to avoid getting deeply involved in political disputes. One commenter urged Davido to be cautious, arguing that his relationship with political figures could become important to his interests in the future. Another group of users, however, continued to mock the governor and supported Davido’s response. Social media users react The singer’s post generated numerous reactions, with some commenters focusing on the wording of the governor’s original message, while others questioned why Davido was engaging in the political exchange. The latest development has once again placed the relationship between the music star and the Edo governor in the spotlight. For now, neither Davido nor Governor Okpebholo has indicated that the disagreement has been resolved, leaving their latest social media exchange as another chapter in their ongoing public back-and-forth. Adeleke and Davido’s relationship Davido’s political involvement has also attracted attention because of his close family connection to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. The singer has openly supported his uncle at political events, while Adeleke has also been seen publicly enjoying Davido’s music. The latest exchange with Okpebholo therefore comes against a wider backdrop of political and family interests involving the singer and members of the Adeleke family.
