Nigerian music star 2Baba and his estranged wife, Annie Idibia, have once again become the subject of public attention after the former couple reportedly followed each other on Instagram.

The social media development has triggered speculation among fans, with some wondering whether the renewed connection could signal a possible thaw in their strained relationship.

The pair had previously stopped following each other on the platform. However, checks on Monday showed that they had reconnected on Instagram.

Adding to the speculation, Annie has reportedly returned to using Annie Idibia on Instagram after previously changing her name to Annie Macaulay.

Despite the renewed social media interaction, neither Annie nor 2Baba has confirmed that they are working towards reconciliation.

A relationship marked by controversy

The latest development comes more than a year after 2Baba publicly announced that his marriage to Annie had ended.

In January 2025, the singer revealed on social media that the couple had been separated for some time and that divorce proceedings were underway.

The announcement generated widespread reactions, particularly because the relationship had been closely followed by the public throughout the years.

Although the initial post was later deleted amid claims that his account had been compromised, 2Baba subsequently confirmed that the announcement was genuine.

2Baba and Annie’s relationship began during the early stages of his music career. Annie appeared in the music video for his popular song “African Queen”, and the two eventually got married in 2013.

They celebrated their marriage with traditional and white wedding ceremonies, held in Akwa Ibom State and Dubai respectively.

Years of marital challenges

Their marriage faced several public controversies over the years, including disputes surrounding 2Baba’s relationships with other women and his children from previous relationships.

The situation became particularly heated in 2021 after Annie publicly raised concerns about 2Baba’s relationship with Pero Adeniyi, the mother of some of his children. The matter subsequently generated public exchanges involving members of both families.

Despite the difficulties, the couple remained together and renewed their vows in 2023 to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.

Their relationship later suffered another major setback before 2Baba announced their separation in 2025.

The singer has since married Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, while Annie has continued with her own life and career.

Fans react to latest development

The renewed Instagram connection between 2Baba and Annie has nevertheless reignited discussions about their relationship.

While following each other again is not proof that the former couple has reconciled, fans have interpreted the move as a potentially positive development after years of public marital difficulties.

For now, the true nature of their relationship remains unclear, as neither party has made an official statement confirming a reunion.
