
Buhari to Be Buried Tuesday in Daura Katsina Governor Confirms
Katsina State Governor ,Governor Dikko Radda, has announced that the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
Governor Radda made this known on Monday during a press briefing at the Katsina Government House, where he spoke about the burial arrangements.
President Buhari, who was 82 years old, died on Sunday, July 13, at a hospital in London, where he had been receiving medical treatment. He had traveled to the UK in April for a routine medical check-up but remained there due to health complications.
Buhari served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, and before that, he led the country briefly as Head of State from 1983 to 1985 during his military career. He is survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, and eight children.
According to Governor Radda, the decision on the burial was made after consultations with Buhari’s family and other close associates in London.
He stated that Buhari’s body will arrive in Katsina around noon on Tuesday, and the burial will take place by 2 p.m., in line with Islamic rites.
The governor offered prayers, asking Almighty Allah to grant the former president eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
