The Enugu International Trade Fair will focus on helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) grow and compete in the global market, organizers have announced.
The President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Nnayelugo Onyemelukwe, made this known during a press briefing ahead of the 37th edition of the trade fair scheduled to be held from March 21 to March 30, 2026, in Enugu.
According to Onyemelukwe, the theme of this year’s event is “Empowering MSMEs for Global Competitiveness.” He explained that the main goal of the trade fair is to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so they can grow into strong businesses that are able to compete internationally.
He said ECCIMA has made significant progress in preparing for the event and is working hard to ensure that the fair will be successful and beneficial to all participants and stakeholders.
Onyemelukwe also stated that a strong economy driven by private businesses is important for sustaining democracy. He urged governments at all levels to introduce policies that support business growth, entrepreneurship, and industrial development.
He added that Nigeria can unlock its industrial potential by developing both the oil and non-oil sectors of the economy. According to him, strengthening value chains and supporting different industries will help promote long-term economic growth.
Despite the current economic challenges facing the country, the ECCIMA president expressed confidence that the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair will attract strong participation.
He revealed that many companies and organizations have already shown interest in the event, with some businesses already building exhibition stands and preparing their spaces at the trade fairground.
Onyemelukwe further explained that the trade fair will also showcase opportunities in agriculture, especially commercial farming. He noted that promoting agriculture, agro-processing, and agro-allied industries can help create jobs, improve food security, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
He added that the event will provide a platform for businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs to connect, explore new opportunities, and promote economic development.
