A criminal case in the United Kingdom involving a 24-year-old Nigerian migrant named Gift Oladele. UK courts sentenced Oladele to 17 years in prison following his conviction for the violent rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old British woman.
The incident took place in September along an isolated footpath in Wrexham, Wales. The victim recalled that Oladele offered to walk in the same direction with her as she was returning home after a night out. As they reached a secluded area, he suddenly grabbed her, forced her into nearby woods, and violently assaulted her despite her efforts to push him away. The victim shared that she feared for her life during the attack and focused entirely on surviving so she could return home safely.
Following the physical assault, Oladele made disturbing comments to the victim, telling her she had had enough and making insensitive remarks about his appearance. He also threatened her to prevent her from reporting the event to law enforcement.
Investigators arrested Oladele shortly after the incident, and a jury later found him guilty following a trial at Crown Court. Court details revealed that Oladele had previous legal trouble, including a prior conviction for a sexually motivated offense and being on bail for another allegation at the time of the attack. Legal proceedings also noted that he had previously resisted deportation orders on human rights grounds.
The presiding judge handed down a 17-year custodial sentence alongside extended license conditions, noting the severe danger the offender posed. Police and court officials confirmed that he must serve a significant portion of his term behind bars before any possibility of parole.
