2027: Soludo Says APC, APGA Share Progressive Roots, Affirms Partnership

By Isaac Mission

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has described the relationship between the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government as a partnership focused on advancing Nigeria’s development.

Soludo made the statement on Thursday when the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, visited Anambra State.

The governor maintained that the political relationship between APGA and the APC was not accidental, arguing that both parties share progressive ideals and historical connections.

According to him, APGA, which was registered in 2002 as a progressive political party, predates the APC by several years.

He explained that some elements associated with APGA later became part of the political coalition that eventually produced the APC, adding that this gives the ruling party some connection to APGA’s political heritage.

“Progressives are working, and this is not merely a slogan but a statement of fact,” Soludo said.

He noted that APGA has established a strong political presence in Anambra, where the party has long maintained that “Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra.”

However, Soludo stressed that the broader objective should extend beyond party interests, saying progressive political forces must work together toward building a prosperous Nigeria.

He said the shared goal is to create a country characterised by sustainable prosperity, wider opportunities and improved living conditions for its citizens.

The governor further described the existing relationship involving APGA, the Federal Government and APC as productive.

“So far, ours is a partnership that works — a partnership between APGA, the Federal Government and the APC,” he stated.

Soludo’s comments come amid increasing political alignments and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
