The Peter Mbah Continuity Group (PMCG) has strengthened its political presence across Enugu State with the inauguration of executive committees covering all 17 local government areas and 260 wards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group also inaugurated its state and three zonal structures during a ceremony held at the Enugu International Conference Centre.
The development-focused political organisation, which receives support from Nigerians in the diaspora, said the new structures would help take the programmes and achievements of Governor Peter Mbah to communities across the state while mobilising support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates.
The event drew government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, APC stakeholders and thousands of PMCG supporters.
Speaking during the inauguration, PMCG Convener and Global Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Martilord Ifeanyichi, said the organisation was established by Nigerians at home and abroad who were impressed by what they described as the governor’s performance during his first three and a half years in office.
According to him, the extensive grassroots network was created to improve communication between the government and residents while ensuring that people in the 260 wards had a better understanding of government policies, programmes and projects.
He stressed that the organisation's activities would go beyond conventional political mobilisation.
“PMCG is not just about politics. It is also about communication, engagement, and ensuring that the people understand what the government is doing and how they can benefit from it,” he said.
Representing the Senator for Enugu West, Osita Ngwu, at the occasion, his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Dr. Luke Mgboh, described the structure established by PMCG as a strong grassroots platform.
He pledged the senator’s continued backing for efforts aimed at strengthening the APC and building support for Governor Mbah and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Ajogwu; Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Yomi Jaye; former Igbo-Eze South Local Government Chairman and former Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Peter Andy Omeje; and APC candidate for Igbo-Eze South State Constituency, Mrs. Favour Asogwa, also commended the initiative.
They said the network would help communicate the administration’s achievements directly to residents while encouraging greater participation in grassroots politics.
The Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Frank Anioma, formally inaugurated the executives on behalf of Governor Mbah.
Anioma urged the new officers to operate with unity, discipline and peaceful collaboration across the various levels of the organisation.
He maintained that effective coordination among the state, zonal, local government and ward executives would be critical to the success of the mobilisation structure.
Chairman of the PMCG Elders Council and Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council in Igbo-Eze South LGA, HRM Igwe Okechukwu Agbaji, Enyi of Unadu Ancient Kingdom, also praised the organisation for adopting what he described as a strategic grassroots approach.
He encouraged members to promote peace, unity, responsible leadership and service while praying for continued progress in Enugu State.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to Governor Mbah on Diaspora Matters, Mrs. Olangwa Ezekwu, who delivered an address on behalf of the governor and the Secretary to the State Government, expressed appreciation to PMCG for its support.
Ezekwu described the group as the first diaspora-supported organisation to establish physical grassroots structures across the state.
She reaffirmed the administration’s focus on infrastructure, security and economic transformation and urged the newly inaugurated executives to strengthen their engagement with communities.
The executives were subsequently tasked with intensifying grassroots mobilisation and campaigning for APC candidates across Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The ceremony also featured the decoration of Governor Peter Mbah as Grand Patron of PMCG.
The group further unveiled an almanac containing photographs and information on major projects and achievements of the Mbah administration. According to the organisers, the publication would be used as a sensitisation and mobilisation tool to give residents easier access to information about government programmes and projects.
