The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards brought together television's biggest stars at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles to celebrate the finest achievements in television. Hosted by Law and Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay, the star-studded ceremony delivered unforgettable moments, major victories, and historic records. Leading the conversation this year were critically acclaimed shows that captured the hearts of audiences and critics alike.
Among the night's biggest highlights, the horror-comedy sensation Widow's Bay emerged as an absolute powerhouse. The hit series dominated the ceremony by taking home a staggering 14 Emmy wins overall, setting a remarkable record for the most awards won by a single comedy series in one year. Its impressive sweep included the coveted prize for Outstanding Comedy Series, alongside major wins for writer Katie Dippold, director Hiro Murai, and standout cast members Matthew Rhys, Kate O'Flynn, and Stephen Root.
In the dramatic categories, the gripping medical drama The Pitt continued its strong run by repeating as the winner for Outstanding Drama Series. Star Noah Wyle also secured the award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, other prominent winners included Rhea Seehorn, who picked up her first Emmy for her stellar work in Pluribus, and Jean Smart, who made television history by securing her fifth consecutive win for Hacks. In the limited series category, DTF St. Louis triumphed by taking home the award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
