Former Anambra State governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi has addressed questions regarding his personal wealth, clarifying that while his net worth qualifies him as a billionaire in Nigerian naira, he does not hold billionaire status in US dollars.
During an interview session, Obi was asked directly about his financial standing and whether he counts among the country's multi-billionaires. Responding candidly, he noted that wealth measurement often depends on the currency perspective. He remarked that people typically measure billionaires in US dollars globally, but in terms of local currency and capital assets, he is indeed a naira billionaire.
The comments quickly drew significant attention and commentary across various social media platforms, sparking discussions about political transparency, personal wealth, and economic realities in Nigeria. Obi has frequently emphasized prudent financial management and accountability throughout his public service career.
As discussions continue to circulate online, the politician's straightforward acknowledgment highlights the ongoing public interest in the financial backgrounds of prominent Nigerian leaders and public figures.
