Legend Extra Stout has joined this year’s August Meeting celebrations in Enugu and Aba, using the annual gathering to recognise the important roles played by Igbo women in family life, business and community development.
The August Meeting remains one of the most significant annual traditions among women in southeastern Nigeria. It brings together women living at home and abroad to reconnect with their communities, discuss issues affecting their families, support local development and promote Igbo cultural values.
Speaking about the brand’s involvement, Senior Brand Manager of Legend Extra Stout, Ifeyinwa Madu, described the gathering as an important occasion for celebrating Umuada and their contributions to society.
Madu said the brand was pleased to honour women who continue to preserve Igbo traditions while making meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
She added that the celebration would move to Abia on August 28, where Legend Extra Stout plans to continue engaging with women taking part in the annual event.
According to the company, the significance of the August Meeting goes beyond social gatherings. Over the years, the occasion has provided a platform for generations of women to strengthen family ties, support community projects and pass cultural knowledge and values to younger generations.
Legend Extra Stout highlighted the contributions of different categories of women within Igbo communities, including mothers who sustain their families, community leaders who support development projects, sisters who provide consistent assistance and aunties whose counsel helps shape younger generations.
The company said its participation was inspired by the strong relationship between the brand and communities across southeastern Nigeria, as well as its desire to recognise women whose efforts often take place away from public attention.
It noted that the August Meeting also offers an opportunity for old friends and relatives to reunite, exchange memories and reinforce relationships that may have weakened with distance and time.
Beyond the celebrations, the brand said the annual tradition continues to provide a link between successive generations, helping participants remain connected to their roots while contributing to the growth and development of their communities.
Following its Enugu engagement, Legend Extra Stout is expected to take the celebration to Abia on August 28 as part of its continued support for the 2026 August Meeting.
