The Udi Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council has commended Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, for his contribution to the completion of the Ninth Mile–Ugwu Onyeama–Enugu dual carriageway.
In a letter dated August 6, 2026, the council expressed appreciation for the senator’s efforts toward the completion of the major road project, which has improved transportation along the previously challenging route.
The letter was signed by the Chairman of the Council, HRM Justice F. Ken Ezeike (Rtd.), the Secretary, HRH Igwe Uche A. Alugwu, alongside 33 other traditional rulers and council members.
The monarchs said the decision to recognise Ngwu followed discussions at their monthly meeting held on July 2 at the Udi Local Government Headquarters. They said members unanimously agreed that the senator deserved commendation for his role in advancing the project.
According to the traditional rulers, the completion of the two lanes has made travelling along the road considerably safer and eased traffic movement for motorists and other road users.
They recalled that the affected stretch had previously been regarded as a dangerous section of the highway, with a history of accidents and loss of lives. Its completion, they noted, would therefore have a significant impact on residents of Udi and communities across Enugu West.
The council also praised Ngwu’s interventions in the Senate, describing his contributions and advocacy as evidence of effective representation.
The monarchs expressed confidence in his performance and indicated their willingness to support his political ambition beyond the current electoral cycle.
They further highlighted the senator’s relationship with traditional institutions in the area, commending him for recognising and respecting the role of royal fathers in Udi.
The traditional rulers said Ngwu’s involvement in the road project, alongside his legislative activities and engagement with relevant authorities, demonstrated a commitment to issues affecting the safety, welfare and economic wellbeing of his constituents.
The council said it would continue to inform their respective communities about the senator’s achievements and development efforts in Enugu West.
The letter of appreciation was formally endorsed by the council’s chairman, secretary and the other traditional rulers and members who participated in the resolution.
