2027: Mbah Will Mobilise South-East for Tinubu, Ukwueze Declares

The Deputy Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Enugu State and Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has expressed confidence that Governor Peter Mbah will secure strong support for President Bola Tinubu across the South-East in the 2027 presidential election.

Ukwueze made the assertion in Enugu while speaking with journalists on Mbah’s recent appointment as Tinubu’s campaign coordinator in the South-East.

According to him, the appointment reflects the president’s confidence in Mbah’s political influence, administrative experience and ability to connect with people at the grassroots.

The council chairman said Mbah’s record in office had positioned him to effectively coordinate a regional campaign, citing developments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, economic growth and human capital development.

“Governor Mbah has demonstrated a clear understanding of leadership and has shown that political ideas can be converted into tangible development,” Ukwueze said.

He maintained that the governor’s influence extends beyond Enugu State, arguing that his development-focused approach has earned him recognition in other parts of the South-East.

Ukwueze also highlighted Mbah’s ability to work with traditional rulers, community leaders, politicians and other influential groups, saying such relationships would be important in building support for Tinubu ahead of the election.

He described the governor’s appointment as a strategic decision that could strengthen the president’s campaign organisation in the region.

According to him, Mbah’s grassroots structures and organisational experience will be crucial to mobilising voters and communicating the administration’s policies to communities across the South-East.

Ukwueze therefore called on political leaders and other stakeholders in the region to cooperate with Mbah in carrying out the assignment.

He said the appointment could also provide the South-East with a stronger platform for engaging the Federal Government and presenting the region’s concerns.

“With Mbah coordinating the campaign, we expect a more organised and energetic mobilisation across the region. I am confident that the outcome will be evident in 2027,” he added.
