2027: Enugu Community Backs Mbah, Tinubu, APC Candidates

By Isaac Mission

Residents and political stakeholders in Ikem community, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, have pledged their support for Governor Peter Mbah’s reelection bid, President Bola Tinubu, and candidates contesting under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

The declaration was made during the APC campaign visit to Ward 1, Ikem Uno, as the party intensified its mobilisation ahead of the local government and general elections.

Community leaders expressed appreciation for Governor Mbah’s infrastructure initiatives, particularly the construction of the Owo-Neke-Ikem virgin road, which they described as a significant step towards improving connectivity and development in the area.

Speaking during the campaign, Dr. Dave Nnamani, one of the APC stakeholders in the community, urged Governor Mbah to consider the construction of another strategic road linking several rural settlements in Isi-Uzo.

Nnamani appealed for the development of the route connecting Ukwumango Ikem Ogor through Ikem Nkwo-Ashiebo, Odobido Ikem, Odenigbo Eha-Amufu, and terminating at Ahube Water, which he identified as the boundary between Enugu and Benue states.

According to him, completing the road would boost economic activities, improve movement between communities, and encourage residents of Odobido, Orene, Ekor, and Ishiador to return to their ancestral lands, which have reportedly remained abandoned since 1970 due to hostilities.

He further explained that the road could enhance connectivity between Enugu, Ebonyi, Benue, and parts of Northern Nigeria, while supporting agricultural development and the governor’s agrarian policy.

“We appreciate the developmental projects embarked upon by Governor Mbah, which have positively impacted many lives in the state. We are going to reciprocate the gesture through our mobilisation to reelect the governor and other APC candidates in Isi-Uzo LGA,” Nnamani said.

He also called on the governor to work with the incoming Isi-Uzo council chairman to explore the proposed road project.

The APC chairmanship candidate for Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Chief Brendan Ani, attended the campaign alongside the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Isi-Uzo State Constituency, Hon. Augustine Nnamani, and its House of Representatives candidate for Isi-Uzo/Enugu East Federal Constituency, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga.

During the gathering, the people of Ikem reaffirmed their backing for the party’s candidates, including Brendan Ani, Augustine Nnamani, and Chijioke Edeoga, while expressing confidence in the APC leadership.

The community’s declaration adds to the ongoing political mobilisation in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
