Tinubu Bringing Development to South East with $3 Billion Eastern Rail Project Kalu
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving about $3 billion to complete the Eastern Rail Line. He said this move shows Tinubu’s commitment to developing the South East region and improving the lives of Nigerians.
The House of Representatives approved the funding during its plenary session on Wednesday.
In a statement on Thursday, Kalu said the Eastern Rail Line is a major infrastructure project that will help grow the economy and connect different regions of the country.
He said President Tinubu’s decision proves that his “Renewed Hope Agenda” is not just talk, but real action to boost the South East’s economy. Kalu also said the people of the region, known as Ndi Igbo, will show their appreciation for the President’s support when the time is right.
Kalu added, “I thank President Tinubu for his leadership and for caring about the South East. Completing the Eastern rail line will help increase Nigeria’s non oil exports and grow the economy.”
According to him, the rail project could help bring in over ₦50 billion in trade every year by connecting major markets in Aba and Onitsha to the North.
“This project will greatly improve infrastructure in the South East, and we are very grateful to the President for making it happen,” he said.
