Enugu to Host 17th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment

Enugu State will, from Monday, play host to the 17th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment (NCITI), drawing top government officials, business leaders, investors, and industry stakeholders from across the country.

The five-day meeting, themed "Enhancing Competitiveness in Industry, Trade, and Investment for Inclusive Growth and Global Market Integration," is expected to attract close to 1,000 participants. The gathering will provide a platform for discussions on policies and strategies aimed at strengthening Nigeria's industrial sector, expanding trade opportunities, and promoting investment-driven economic growth.

Among the dignitaries expected at the event are the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Minister of State for the ministry, Senator John Owan Enoh. Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, will deliver the keynote address during the executive session.

The council will also feature commissioners responsible for trade, commerce, industry, and investment from the 36 states, alongside foreign trade and investment representatives, as well as heads of relevant federal and state government agencies.

Discussions during the council will focus on key areas including improving industrial competitiveness and productivity, enhancing trade facilitation and market access, driving digital innovation in industry and commerce, exploring regional and international market opportunities, and promoting public-private partnerships for sustainable industrial development.

Enugu's selection as the host state reflects its growing reputation as a preferred destination for major conferences and investment-focused events. The state's appeal has been boosted by ongoing investments in security, tourism, and transportation infrastructure under the Mbah administration, including the launch of Enugu Air, which now operates multiple daily flights connecting the state with major cities across Nigeria.
