Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has inaugurated the state campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), charging its members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration took place at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri, where the governor outlined the council’s responsibility to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting various elective positions.
Uzodimma urged the newly appointed members to take the party’s campaign beyond major towns and establish a strong presence across local government areas, wards, polling units and communities.
He said the council’s assignment required unity, discipline and a strong commitment to grassroots engagement.
According to the governor, APC candidates at the federal and state levels must work together as a team to communicate the achievements of the party’s administration and win the confidence of voters.
Uzodimma also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the APC’s political structures across Imo State as part of efforts to secure a successful outcome for the party in 2027.
APC National Vice Chairman, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, said the campaign council had been given a broad mandate to work towards victory for the party in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.
Arodiogbu urged members to put aside personal interests and avoid divisions that could undermine the party’s chances at the polls.
The state APC chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, similarly directed members of the council to commence door-to-door mobilisation across the state’s 27 local government areas.
He urged campaign officials to draw voters’ attention to what he described as the administration’s achievements in areas including infrastructure, security, healthcare, education and economic development.
Responding on behalf of the campaign council, Chris Okewulonu expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver on its assignment.
He said the experience and capacity of the council members would be deployed towards increasing voter participation and helping the APC achieve a strong electoral performance in Imo State in 2027.
