NDC Youths Endorse Chinyeaka Ohaa for Enugu 2027 Governorship Race

The youth wing of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State has thrown its full support behind the party’s governorship candidate, Chinyeaka Ohaa, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during the maiden executive meeting of the NDC Youth Wing held in Enugu on Saturday.

Addressing members, the state youth coordinator, Jideofor Ude, described Ohaa as a seasoned public administrator with an impressive record of service at both the state and national levels. He highlighted her previous roles, including Accountant General of Enugu State, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Pro-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).

Ude urged party members to rally behind all NDC candidates, stressing the importance of supporting Ohaa’s governorship ambition as the party prepares for the next election cycle.

The meeting was attended by the NDC State Chairman, Ibuchukwu Obetta, alongside youth coordinators representing the 17 local government areas of the state.

Commending the party leadership, Ude praised Obetta for his commitment and strategic direction, assuring him of the youth wing’s readiness to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and advance its goals across Enugu State.

Speaking on preparations for the 2027 elections, Ude said the youth wing would begin mobilization activities once the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) releases the official election timetable. He also encouraged all NDC candidates to work closely with the youth wing to boost grassroots engagement and encourage greater youth participation in the electoral process.

He further charged the local government coordinators to actively implement party programmes in their respective areas while inviting members to contribute ideas ahead of the forthcoming NDC Youth Leadership Summit, where major youth-focused initiatives for the 2027 elections are expected to be unveiled.

In his remarks, Obetta applauded the youth wing for its enthusiasm and dedication, pledging the continued support of the state leadership. He also addressed the ongoing leadership dispute within the party, stating that efforts were underway through legal channels to resolve the matter.

Obetta maintained that he remains the recognised NDC state chairman by the party’s national leadership and urged members to remain united and focused as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of appointment letters to the 17 local government youth coordinators.
