2027: Oji River Women Declare Massive Support for Mbah, Vow to Defeat Opponents

Women from Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State have pledged their continued support for Governor Peter Mbah ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that they are prepared to mobilise against opposition forces in the state.

The women made the declaration during their August meeting held at the residence of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Ugochi Madueke. The gathering also served as an opportunity for the women to appreciate Governor Mbah for appointing several women from the area to strategic positions within his administration.

Speaking at the event, Madueke disclosed that about 58 women currently occupy different positions in the Enugu State Government, with five of them coming from Oji River Local Government Area.

She said the women remained committed to building strong grassroots support for the governor as the 2027 elections approach.

As part of preparations for the elections, the women conducted a “Show Your PVC” exercise to assess their level of preparedness. According to Madueke, more than 3,000 women presented their Permanent Voter Cards during the exercise.

The member representing Oji River Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Osita Eze, and the Chairman of Oji River Local Government Council, Greg Anyaegbudike, commended the women for their support for the governor.

They attributed the enthusiasm of the women to what they described as the administration’s achievements across the state, urging women in other local government areas to adopt a similar approach and mobilise support for the continuation of Mbah’s administration.

Also present at the gathering were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Victor Udeh; Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Ngozi Enih; and Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Poverty Eradication, Benedette Okoli.

The officials applauded the women’s commitment and provided financial assistance to support them.

The gathering ended with the distribution of cash gifts, 10kg bags of rice, wrappers and other items to the women.
